Dear West Lab Wing Users,

Today at noon the air handling unit malfunction again involving the humidification section allowing water to back up and leak outside the air handler unit down into the laboratories below.  To insure no leaks afterhours PUPF has shut down the humidification section overnight which will allow the humidity levels to drop in the west lab wing overnight. 

PUPF will start the humidification section first thing in the morning and monitor for leaks throughout the day to insure the issue is fixed.

It appears that Purdue Physical Facility Department has found the issue with the air handler humidifier and the unit is back to normal operation.

Dear West Lab Wing Users,

The investigation found the water leak came from the air handling unit malfunction of the humidification section allowing water to back up and leak outside the air handler unit down into the laboratories below.  The humidifier section has been commanded off, waiting further investigation to fix the root cause of the leak tomorrow morning. 

Temperature control for all the west wing laboratories (areas in yellow) will be under normal control, but the humidity will vary more than normal.  We anticipate the humidity to stay inside the laboratory specification. 

Tomorrow we may shutdown the air handling unit for short periods of time to investigate and to patch drain pans and still maintain laboratory ambient conditions.

There has been an air handler water leak detected on the third floor of the West lab wing that requires an emergency shutdown of the air handling systems to isolate and fix the source of the leak.  This Involves losing humidity and temperature control for the West Lab Wing ONLY.   Areas shown in yellow below are the only labs effected from this interruption. 

We will provide updates as we investigate the issue.
