Birck Nanotechnology Facilities Back on Line
I'm pleased to report that power has been restored and the building utilities are stable and operational. However, please check CORAL for the status of specific equipment. Cryo-pumped vacuum systems require a regeneration cycle that can take several hours, so the metal deposition systems will be down for regeneration until at least Saturday. Our staff member, Dave Lubelski, will be working the regeneration process on metallization systems based on reservation priorities in CORAL. Please note that all building safety mechanisms performed as designed. While these types of events are undesirable, they are also unavoidable, and the Birck facility employs state-of-the art detection and fail-safe mechanisms to protect the building occupants and the building. These systems worked perfectly. Thank you for your patience as we worked through this unfortunate event. Please check CORAL for equipment status and availability.
