The IRS recently announced new standard mileage rates when using a personal vehicle for business reasons. Rates are based on the fixed and variable costs of operating a vehicle. Mileage Rate Change for Travel on or after January 1, 2013 Effective for travel on or after January 1, 2013, the privately owned vehicle mileage rate will change from 55.5 cents per mile to 56.5 cents per mile.
