[Bnc-facility-notice] REMINDER - NOTICE - BNC Preventative Maintenance Closure From April 29, 2024 to May 6, 2024
Some people who received this message don't often get email from mvoorhis@purdue.edu<mailto:mvoorhis@purdue.edu>. Learn why this is important<https://aka.ms/LearnAboutSenderIdentification> Dear BNC Users, This is a reminder for the Spring BRK preventative maintenance closure starting Monday April 29 at 7AM ending on Monday May 6 at 4PM Since the temperature in the cleanroom will be unpredictable (high temperatures and humidity), some of the BRK engineering staff are planning on powering off their shared equipment to protect electronic racks and system from possible thermal damage and power them back up when the cleanroom temperature is back under control. Powering off research tools is completely at the discretion of the researchers, who knows their tools best. I know from past experience that temperatures inside of electronic rack could be 30° or 40°F warmer than the ambient temperature of the cleanroom. I have seen temperatures as high as 120° to 130°F inside of electronics rack causing thermal damage to sensitive microprocessor components. For research tools that remain operational during the time when the cleanroom humidity is out of control with higher humidity causing condensation or sweating from uninsulated process piping with cooling water inside the tools.
