[BIRCK NANOTECHNOLOGY CENTER][http://www.purdue.edu/discoverypark/resources/toolkit/files/logo/digital/Log...] Seminars/Workshops Purdue's Discovery Park and the Institute for Global Security and Defense Innovation (i-GSDI) will host a Defense Research Information and Strategy Session for Purdue faculty, staff and students. This free event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on June 6 at the Burton D. Morgan Center, Room 129. (Light lunch provided.) The purpose of the sessions is to update Purdue faculty, staff, and students on the myriad of opportunities recently released (or expected soon) from the United States Department of Defense (DoD) and related federal agencies. This session will focus on the following DOD priority research areas: * Advanced Computing- Opportunities in quantum, nuero-morphic, and other architectures that are seen as potential enablers of radical new defense and intelligence capabilities * AI+ (AI , Autonomy)-Convergence of novel AI algorithms with enabling technologies in Autonomy/Control, Machine Learning, Efficient Sensing, etc. for a variety of missions * Hypersonics- The ability to understand, develop and field effective and reliable high-speed systems as well as strategies for defense The sessions will include an introduction to the opportunities on where Purdue can contribute and a brief introduction of the top ten technology priorities in the U.S. Defense/Security area. More focused sessions will dive into the top three topic areas with an overview of the landscape in accordance with high level themes/challenges and a discussion on mapping Purdue expertise into the opportunities and strategy for pursuit.
