[cid:image003.jpg@01D404C4.4DF48A80] Seminars/Workshops/News Birck Nanotechnology Center Research Display and Image Contest *** Deadline for submission Dec. 10th, 2018 *** We are looking for research displays and new images highlighting activities at the Birck Nanotechnology Center. This will be used in Purdue’s 150th Anniversary Event "Conference of the Future" in Fall 2019 and will be displayed at Birck Atrium and through brochures and social media. We know that many of you create beautiful images in your labs, cleanroom and simulation every day. Send us the most eye-catching figures from your work for a chance to gain higher visibility. Also research samples or other demonstrations that can highlight latest advances in your groups will be placed in the display at the Birck Atrium. You can see some examples in the current displays. Top three winners for best images and top three research displays will receive $300 /$200 /$100 cash rewards each. Winners may also be invited to write a Newsletter article about the work behind the research. Contest Rules for Figures and/or Research Displays: • Figures to be submitted electronically in TIFF, JPEG, or PDF format (300dpi High resolution) • Research samples should fit in the Birck Atrium Display • Must be related to Birck research • May submit more than one entry Please email your art input to Jaime Turner (jjturner@purdue.edu<mailto:jjturner@purdue.edu>). Air handling systems, exhaust systems, toxic gas delivery, and monitoring systems will be down beginning at 7 a.m. Tuesday, December 4 through 4 p.m. Friday, December 7. All CLEANROOM research work will be suspended until the chilled water repair is complete and all systems are returned to normal. Only authorized personnel will be allowed to enter the cleanroom during this time period. In addition, the laboratory areas will also be affected by this interruption. As such, all LABORATORY activities that involve exhausted hoods, vacuum systems, and/or toxic gas systems will be down beginning 7 a.m. Tuesday, December 4 through 4 p.m. Friday, December 7. However, work that involves taking standard electrical measurements may be carried out in the LABS provided that fluctuating air temperature and humidity do not affect the readings. No chemical work will be allowed during this period. It is anticipated that the campus chilled water repairs will be completed by the end of the day on Friday, December 7. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding during this important repair shutdown. Mark Voorhis Building Manager Birck Nanotechnology Center Deadline announced for requisitions $10,000 and greater for holiday, winter recess The deadline to submit a purchase Request of $10,000 and over to be processed by the holiday/winter recess is 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7. Requests must be submitted by this deadline to ensure a purchase order can be processed before the holiday/winter recess. Staff will continue working on requests submitted after Dec. 7, however there is no guarantee the request will be completed prior to the holiday/winter recess. There is increased volume at the end of each month, quarter and calendar year, please allow additional processing time. The University will be closed Dec. 24, 25 and 31 and Jan. 1, which are University holidays, as well as Dec. 26 through Dec. 28, which is the 2018 winter recess. The University will reopen January 2, 2019. Regional campuses should follow your local purchasing department instructions.
