During September of this year, grants.gov underwent a major change by starting to migrate proposal packages from the puredge forms to adobe pdf forms. One of the biggest benefits of this change is that it will allow us the ability to have a platform independent submission tool. The adobe forms can be used on both mac and pc without any special software or additional steps. A couple of very important things to remember: - MOST IMPORTANT - when filling out the new forms, the packages should be built and submitted using either adobe reader or acrobat 7.0.9 or 8.1.1. Any version used outside of the two approved versions will not be supported by grants.gov and will result in errors not allowing the package to be submitted. REMEMBER - ALL ACTIVITY IN CREATING AND SUBMITTING THE PACKAGE MUST BE COMPLETED USING EITHER 7.0.9 OR 8.1.1. - Free downloads of adobe 7.0.9 and 8.1.1 can be found at http://www.grants.gov/resources/download_software.jsp. - Pdf packages can be built and completed using the free adobe reader software. There is no need to purchase the adobe acrobat software. - The transition to adobe forms is being phased in over time. Until the transition is complete, there will be a need to maintain the puredge software on your computer in the event that you are submitting a puredge (.xfd) package. Additionally, attached to this message, is an excel spreadsheet that can be used as a reference tool when trying to determine what computers and operating systems are compatible with the different grants.gov submission tools. If you have any questions, please feel free to give me a call.
