When research work resumes please keep the hoods clean, tidy, and remember to remove all unused glassware and to label all your experiments. [cid:image012.png@01D7401C.A3F567B0] Here is what BNC wiki page<https://wiki.itap.purdue.edu/display/BNCWiki/Lab+Policies+and+Best+Practices#LabPoliciesandBestPractices-LabCitizenship> tells us. If the bottles in the hood are empty, refill them from a supply bottle. It is in the cabinet below the hood. (if not it can be taken from the storage cabinet) Label the chemicals, samples, or glassware that left unattended, with "researcher name_Major constituents of material_Date of Disposal/ return" * Clean the workspace (fume hood, lab bench or equipment) after use, with * any chemicals on the hood surface wiped up or rinsed, * used cleanroom wipes removed * all aluminum foil removed * any glassware containing chemicals labeled and pushed to the back of the hood * any empty glassware removed * and chemical supply bottles returned to the proper storage cabinet ("Corrosives" for concentrated acids/bases or "Flammable" for solvents/developers). Together, we make the clean room clean and nano bigger. Birck Nanotechnology Center PM Closure Notice The Birck Nanotechnology Center will be undergoing a semi-annual preventive maintenance and service shutdown May 3 through May 7, 2021. Air handling systems, exhaust systems, toxic gas delivery, and monitoring systems will be down beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, May 3 through 4 p.m. Friday, May 7. The BNC staff will be performing appropriate preventive maintenance on the process equipment at this time as well. All CLEANROOM research work will be suspended until the maintenance activities are completed and all systems are returned to normal. Only authorized personnel will be allowed to enter the cleanroom during this time period. In addition, the laboratory areas will also be affected by this systems maintenance. As such, all LABORATORY activities that involve exhausted hoods, vacuum systems, and/or toxic gas systems will be down beginning 7 a.m. Monday, May 3 through 4 p.m. Friday, May 7. However, work that involves taking standard electrical measurements may be carried out in the LABS provided that fluctuating air temperature and humidity do not affect the readings. No chemical work will be allowed during this period. It is anticipated that the building and process tool maintenance will be completed by the end of the day on Friday, May 7. Please check iLabs for equipment status and availability. For long term research planning please refer the following future dates for our future preventive maintenance shutdowns. Week of May 3, 2021 Week of Oct 18, 2021 Week of May 2, 2022 Week of Oct 17, 2022 Thank you for your cooperation and understanding during these important preventive maintenance shutdowns.
