Distinguished Seminar
“Multifunctional Flat Optics: Translating Scientific Innovation into Commercial Technology”

Professor Capasso will discuss cutting-edge advances in metasurface-based flat optics and their transition from fundamental nanophotonic research to real-world applications, including integration into consumer technologies such as smartphones.

Students are invited to attend an informal lunch and discussion with Professor Capasso—an excellent opportunity to learn more about his groundbreaking work, which includes the invention of the quantum cascade laser and major contributions to metaoptics and nanotechnology. 

Professor Capasso is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, and numerous other prestigious organizations, and his work continues to shape the future of photonics and advanced materials.
