The card access to the BNC laboratories will go live on January
5, 2009. On this date, all card readers in the facility will be active.
From January 5 through January 16, you must turn in your
laboratory keys to Mary Jo Totten (BRK 1220) and have your badge
activated to allow laboratory access. This may be done only during
the afternoon hours, 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM. If you have a conflict
during these hours, please make special arrangements with Mary Jo in advance.
You must make this exchange during this time period to allow
continuous access to the laboratories. Beginning January 19, 2009, the
lock shop will be re-keying all the laboratories. Once a laboratory has
been re-keyed, your laboratory key will no longer work in that laboratory.
Thank you for your cooperation during this
change-over. Together we are making the BNC a better place to work!

IMPORTANT NOTE: When entering a laboratory using the
card-access system, everyone entering must swipe their card. If
two people are entering a laboratory together, both must swipe. This
allows us to know who is in the laboratory at any time. This is
especially important during an emergency situation, such as a laboratory
evacuation.
DO NOT allow someone else to use your badge! You
are legally and morally responsible for anything that happens under the
aegis of your badge. You should keep your badge in your possession at all
times, and must never allow another person to use it for any reason!
