Dear All,
I assume everybody has received the latest COVID-19 update from Provost/EVPRP on Sunday. They request that anyone returning from travel outside of Indiana should not return to research labs for 14 days. Following the Discovery Park message
below, starting from Monday, access card is needed to enter the building all of the time.
Based on the emails from faculty in the last couple of days, I see that the responses of different groups to COVID-19 are quite varied. Some groups have asked their students to stop coming to the labs and work remotely, while others continue
their research and ask physical* distancing.
As a shared facility, we are a resource for the whole campus. Please ask your students to minimize the use of the facility or adjust their schedule so that they can keep physical distance in the offices, labs or the cleanroom.
To be extra cautious, we would like to limit the access of undergraduates for 14 days. If any faculty or researcher has an UG whose work is essential and if he/she hasn’t traveled, please let me know if you require an exception.
I look forward to hear your suggestions and comments. I appreciate in advance everybody’s commitment to keep a safe community in these difficult times.
Best regards,
Ali
* I use "physical" distancing instead of “social” distancing which is more common these days. While we want everybody to be safe and keep a physical distance, we should be cognizant that many of our students are living far from their family
and they need social support. We have a great community and I know many are willing to help in these unprecedented times.

Dear Discovery Park Colleagues,
Per the recent guidance (below), anyone returning from travel outside of Indiana should NOT return to campus research labs for 14 days after their return. These individuals should: 1) stay home if sick; 2) work/study remotely; and 3) continue
to practice safe social distancing. Additionally, anyone returning from a Level 3 travel advisory country must self-quarantine for a period of 14 days.
Because Discovery Park is home for many of Purdue’s interdisciplinary research laboratories, we will limit access to all Discovery Park buildings beginning tomorrow morning, March 23, 2020. All Discovery Park buildings will remain locked
further until notice. Directors or supervisors should authorize that faculty, staff, and students meet the newly released criteria for returning to work in research labs. Anyone authorized to use a Discovery Park facility will be able to enter the building
using their building key or access card. Building Deputies will be available to assist those without access.
Signs will be posted on the outside doors of the Discovery Park buildings by 8 am tomorrow. Building deputies for Discovery Park buildings will be briefed on these restrictions tonight.
Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions.

March 22, 2020 Dear Purdue faculty and staff, As we get ready to resume instruction after spring break, we wanted to keep you aware of changes to campus life. If you have been away for even a few days, because of our actions
to mitigate the spread of coronavirus and COVID-19, things will neither appear nor operate in the traditional sense when you return. Social distancing
Call center Campus/building access
Beginning Wednesday, March 25, all research, academic and administrative buildings will remain locked throughout the day. Building deputies may decide to leave one exterior,
ADA accessible door unlocked and available only if that entrance is physically staffed to ensure appropriate faculty and staff are granted access. Buildings and offices will remain locked to restrict walk-ins, protect those who must be on campus to work and
concentrate cleaning resources.
Faculty and staff who require entry to a building and do not have key or card access should make arrangements with the building deputy in advance. The list of building deputies
and their email addresses are available on the Physical Facilities website.

Teaching/working remotely We know these are trying times. As a campus community that, on a typical day, has more than 50,000 people in close proximity, we have an important public health duty to help
minimize the spread of this disease in society at large. Thank you for taking these changes to campus life in stride, as we knew you would, and for helping us keep our campus and our community healthy and safe. Sincerely, Jay T. Akridge Theresa Mayer Chris Ruhl |
