1.1: Monday Memo items to appear on-line

Visit http://nano.purdue.edu/ where you’ll be directed to the Discovery Park home page, select “Nanotechnology” from the DP Centers drop-down menu.  Several pieces of this weekly memo have migrated to the Birck website.  As additional pages are created, all items will soon appear there, which will decrease the amount of BNC-all messages being sent.

1.2: Cleanroom Preventive Maintenance scheduled for May 1-2, 2007

Per Mark Voorhis, a 48-hour shut down of cleanroom operations has been scheduled to complete a six-month preventive maintenance procedure.  The shutdown of cleanroom operations will begin on Tuesday (1-May-07) at 7:00 AM and will be completed by Wednesday (2-May-07) at 5:00 PM.  Maintenance is required for BNC cleanroom makeup air handlers and chemical exhaust.  During this time, the BNC Staff will also complete cleanroom troubleshooting to improve temperature repeatability.  Toxic gases will be shutdown to the entire building for the duration of this procedure.

Since the chemical exhaust system for the cleanroom will be shut down please remove chemicals from all hoods in the cleanroom prior to the shutdown.  If not removed by 9PM Monday evening, the lab staff will dispose of them for you.

**NOTE**:  Contrary to our earlier notices released on behalf of the lab staff, the Ultra Pure Water (UPW) System will not be shut down for maintenance.  All Laboratory Hoods and Laboratory UPW are UNAFFECTED by this shutdown.

Thank you for your understanding and patience during this necessary
procedure.  If you have any questions or concerns please Mark Voorhis
