Purdue Utilities
Distribution has an issue with a broken steam valve that services Discovery Park.
A steam shut down is scheduled for 3 hours this coming Tuesday (May 19)
from 6:00 to 9:00 AM to replace the valve.
The main
impact will be seen in all laboratory areas where the
temperatures are expected to be 10° to 12° colder than normal. The reason
for this sharp change in temperature is the laboratory areas incorporate a single-pass
airflow system that doesn’t allow us to capture any of the exhausted
heat. Please plan your activities (and clothing) with this in mind.
With this
short period of down time I do not anticipate major temperature changes in
office or cleanroom spaces since they incorporate recirculation air handling
units. However, operations that are sensitive to small temperature changes,
such as critical lithography steps, should not be scheduled during the shutdown
period.
Thank you for
your cooperation during this short notice shutdown.
