1st: The first event is the Sigma Xi Distinguished Lecture given by Dr. Kar=
l Deisseroth (http://www.stanford.edu/group/dlab/).  Dr. Deisseroth is larg=
ely credited with the primary development of optogenetics (particularly in =
vertebrates), first published in Nature Neuroscience Methods in 2005 (http:=
//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Optogenetics).  Recently (i.e. last week) his lab p=
ublished outstanding work on CLARITY, a new tissue visualization technique =

re/journal/vaop/ncurrent/full/nature12107.html).  His public lecture will b=
e held on Thursday, April 18 from 1:30-3:00 PM in Fowler Hall in the Stewar=

2nd: There will be a reception for Dr. Deisseroth in the Robert L. Ringel G=
allery in Stewart Center starting immediately after his talk (~2:30) and en=
