[BIRCK NANOTECHNOLOGY CENTER][http://www.purdue.edu/discoverypark/resources/toolkit/files/logo/digital/Log...] Data Science Forums As many of you know, Purdue recently announced a new, campus-wide data science initiative, supported by the Office of the Provost, the Office of the Executive Vice President for Research and Partnerships and Discovery Park. As part of this new initiative, we are holding three data science forums<http://www.purdue.edu/newsroom/purduetoday/releases/2017/Q3/office-of-the-provost-and-discovery-park-to-host-data-science-forums.html> in the coming weeks to discuss current efforts across campus, with the goal of developing a set of strategic approaches that will position the University as a leader in the field. This joint initiative will prepare students to engage in an increasingly data-driven world, empower our faculty to create and shape the data science research ecosystem at Purdue and to identify and engage with strategic partners. Our faculty will be key players in these open discussions, which will shape this new initiative. Please join us for one of the following sessions: · Sept. 28 (Th) -- 10 a.m.-noon Stewart Center, Room 214AB. · Oct. 13 (F) – 3-5 p.m. Stewart Center, Room 310. · Oct. 31 (T) -- 3-5 p.m. Stewart Center, Room 310. Those interested in attending one or more sessions can register now through our event page: https://purdue-data-science.eventbrite.com. I look forward to seeing you there! Cheers, Tomas KLA Tencor P-7 The KLA Tencor P7 profilometer has been repaired from the recent damage to the stylus and sensor. It is now available for use but because of the sensitive nature of the sensor, all current user access has been removed, pending retraining on the tool. This retraining is necessary due to the nature of the failure mechanism and is offered at no cost. Training will be handled in iLabs on a first come first serve basis.
