Dr. Ali Shakouri will become the new Mary Jo and Robert L. Kirk Director of the Birck Nanotechnology Center later this fall.  He will also hold the position as Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering.  Dr. Shakouri comes to us from the University of California, Santa Cruz where he is Professor of Electrical Engineering.  His M.S. and Ph.D. degrees are in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology.  At UCSC he served as lead PI on major ONR MURI and DARPA DSO grants focused on thermoelectric energy conversion.  Dr. Shakouri is a nationally recognized leader in his areas of specialization and we are pleased to welcome him to Purdue University.  An announcement of his start date will be made as soon as it is finalized.
