NSF Workshop:
Future of Semiconductors and Beyond,
Through four half-day sessions, this NSF-sponsored virtual workshop will convene leaders in electronic materials, devices, and systems to discuss emerging opportunities in semiconductors and related materials and their integration within
electronic and photonic systems. Continued American leadership in semiconductor technology is essential to maintain national security and defense, and foster economic growth. This workshop is aimed to develop a vision for directed research in future innovations
in semiconductors and related materials to promote continued U.S. leadership in this critical sector.
The sessions will be held on Zoom from Noon - 4:30pm (Eastern time) on the following dates:
• Session 1: Monday, March 1
Harnessing Electronic Phases and Phase Transitions
• Session 2: Tuesday, March 2
Engineering Heterogeneous Semiconductor Structures
** Prof. Sasha Boltasseva panelist
• Session 3: Monday, March 8
Extending Device Frontiers
** Prof. Dana Weinstein panelist
• Session 4: Tuesday, March 9

Birck Conference Rooms
We have taken appropriate steps to reopen the conference rooms within Birck (with the exception of 1001 which continues to be used for storage during the pandemic). The Birck conference rooms are available for scheduling through the BNC secretarial staff and
via the normal Microsoft Outlook schedule, but please be aware they all have maximum occupancy limits. The smaller conference rooms allow a maximum of 4 individuals, and the two atrium conference rooms allow a maximum of 5 individuals. BRK 2001 continues
to have a limit of 10 occupants. Also please wear masks, wipe touch surfaces with disinfectant before and after use, and maintain social distancing even as you enter and leave the room.
