Applied Materials has offered to donate a Model Based Infrared Reflectometry (MBIR) tool to Birck. It is a previous generation Semilab IR2100, and you can learn more about MBIR here:

Below are listed some key applications, and attached is a slide deck with more information.

Birck will only acquire this system if there is a strong interest in the user base. Please let me know by Friday, July 28 if you see a real need for this tool in your research, and what you would like to learn from MBIR data. Due to the modeling time required for each new sample geometry, as well as regular calibration requirements, we foresee this will need significant staff time (and possibly a service contract) so the per-use recharge rate would be on the higher end.
