Monday, 5 October 2009:  
Metallization systems taken off-line
Other cleanroom and laboratory activities as normal

Tuesday, 6 October 2009
Cleanroom closed beginning 7:00 AM
Laboratory operations as limited – no process vacuum, no ultrapure water
Fire alarm testing will be underway

Wednesday, 7 October 2009
Cleanroom closed – may reopen late in day
Ultrapure water should be functional
Odors may be present due to work near air handlers

Thursday, 8 October 2009
Cleanroom expected to reopen
Laboratory usage very limited beginning 7:00 AM – no work involving exhausted hoods, biosafety cabinets or enclosures, vacuum systems, and/or gas systems can be performed 
Laboratories may reopen late in day
Odors may be present due to work near air handlers

Friday, 9 October 2009
Laboratories expected to reopen
Cleanroom operations as normal
Some equipment may come online late in day

Please check Coral for equipment status and availability!

It is expected that the metallization systems will be off-line all week, and that plasma etch systems will be off-line Tuesday through Friday.

Description: The Purdue Energy Fund has been established with a gift from Purdue alumnus Fred Fehsenfeld Sr. and members of his family. The purpose of the fund is to support the development of Indiana and US energy solutions with innovative research in Purdue’s energy laboratories. This announcement is an initial request for proposals from Purdue University tenure track and research faculty members for seed funds from the Purdue Energy Fund. Faculty, staff, and students who have fever or other influenza symptoms should seek medical care. PLEASE DO NOT REPORT TO WORK WHILE ILL.

Birck Nanotechnology Center staff will be notified of an emergency situation by telephone in the order set out in the BNC’s Phone Tree (personnel should have a copy on hand in their offices and homes; contact Deborah Starewich, if you do not have the most recent copy; distributed on Thursday, 09.13.09). BNC faculty members will receive an e-mail message from Monica Allain or Tim Sands.

Members of the Faculty (Professors and Research Professors) are responsible for contacting each of their group members, including graduate students, undergraduate researchers, postdoctoral fellows and research scientists. Specific instructions should be conveyed by phone if possible. All graduate students should register for the Purdue University e-mail alert system at http://news.uns.purdue.edu/mail.html.
