Please go to http://www.iupap.org/commissions/c10/page_55794.html for more information. **Equipment Use and Coral Inquiries** Please note that we use Coral to track equipment use, maintenance, downtime and development time. It is very important that all users log out of Coral at the end of their process runs, which frees up the equipment for the next user. On occasion, some users have forgotten to log out of Coral at the end of their runs, and this then shows the equipment still being used. This blocks other prospective users from enabling the equipment, and over the long term this lowers income in the various recharge centers. So please remember to log out of Coral at the conclusion of your process runs. Also, please remember to direct all inquiries about Coral to coral(a)ecn.purdue.edu<mailto:coral@ecn.purdue.edu>. Ron Reger **Maintenance** The Birck Nanotechnology Center will be undergoing a semi-annual preventive maintenance and service shutdown October 7 through October 11, 2013. Air handling systems, exhaust systems, toxic gas delivery, and monitoring systems will be down beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, October 7 through 4 p.m. Friday, October 11. The BNC staff will be performing appropriate preventive maintenance on the process equipment at this time as well. All CLEANROOM research work will be suspended until the maintenance activities are completed and all systems are returned to normal. No one will be allowed to enter the cleanroom during this time period. In addition, the laboratory areas will also be affected by this systems maintenance. As such, all LABORATORY activities that involve exhausted hoods, vacuum systems, and/or toxic gas systems will be down beginning 9 a.m. Monday, October 7 through 4 p.m. Friday, October 11. However, work that involves taking standard electrical measurements may be carried out in the LABS provided that fluctuating air temperature and humidity do not affect the readings. No chemical work will be allowed during this period. It is anticipated that the building and process tool maintenance will be completed by the end of the day on Friday, October 11. Please check Coral for equipment status and availability. Due to the new lab expansion projects electrical outages are required that will mainly affect the office areas. We will send out a notice with a date and time of the power outage when we have more detailed information from Physical Facilities. Purchasing Transition from SRM to Ariba

Hello All, This is an important message to anyone who does purchasing in SRM. The go-live date for Ariba is October 14th. We all must be ready to input orders into the new system on that date. SRM will be shut off and no new ordering will be allowed after that date. Please make sure that you sign up for training. I have attached your training options below. There is a SRM Shutdown Schedule for SRM (also attached), as of October 4th we will have limited access to SRM. We will only be able to make purchases the are with preferred vendors. So please plan accordingly, if you have items that you can order ahead please do so. We will be unable to place any orders in SRM that require Purchasing Agent approval. If you have a question about what vendors you can order from during this time please send me an email with questions. I will quickly respond to you. We want to make this a smooth transition for all. Hello Everyone, Just want to first introduce myself, Donna Brown, I am the new interim Business Manager in Birck Nanotechnology Center. I am excited to be here and look forward to getting to know each of you. I know that Concur is a new travel system and some of you may have questions or concerns. We have completely transitioned from our old paper system, everyone should be using Concur for travel. If you need additional support I just want to make sure that you know that there are resources available. Please work with the secretaries, they are truly our resident experts on helping you with booking your travel and completing your expense report once you return from your trip. I also want to let everyone know that we do have staff members who are Subject Matter Experts here in Discovery Park. The secretaries can work through them to handle any complications or new questions they may have. Courses with instruction by University procurement subject matter experts have been developed for both system-wide users and for some specific departments. Dates for upcoming instructor-led training can be found on the PREMIS registration site. Revised deadlines for the steps in the cutover from the SRM system also have been announced. The cleanroom will now have a daily rate of $40/user, capped at a maximum 8 days per calendar month. If a user continues using the cleanroom beyond 8 days within a month then they will be only charged $320 for the entire month. This rate structure was mentioned by Prof. Shakouri several months ago in a faculty meeting, and now costing has approved the package. Our intent with this new rate structure is to promote short-term/daily use of the cleanroom without a monthly rate penalty. Please let me know if you have any questions.
