We are a group of researchers at the University of Massachusetts Boston interested in understanding the status of mental health among doctoral students in STEM. Mental health and wellbeing are key factors influencing doctoral student success. However, the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing violence against Black, Asian, Indigenous, and Latinx communities have increased and compounded student stress. So, we are currently seeking participants for a 35-minute research study designed to understand the influential factors that affect mental health among doctoral students in STEM. April Social Justice Seminar Series Social Justice and Nurses Caring for Patients During COVID-19 Conversations surrounding the crisis in nursing amid the COVID-19 pandemic situate the nurse as a social actor who needs to build and maintain resiliency. I temper this expectation as unjust and unrealistic given the avoidable nurse specific traumas they are continuously exposed to. A broader context that begins to entertain the concept of social justice for nurses as opposed to social justice by nurses will be described.
