Mathematical Modeling Course, Fall 2024

I’ll be teaching an undergraduate and graduate (cross-listed) special topics course in mathematical modeling this fall. It’ll be framed
around open questions, and we’ll discuss how to build and present models using different approaches. I’ll also introduce some common methods like parameter estimation and applied topological data analysis.

AES Energy Innovation Challenge | Announcement & Early Interest Form

The
AES
Corporation, a company specializing in clean power generation and
distribution worldwide, is seeking participants for this year's AES
Innovation Challenge. In this competition, interdisciplinary teams
of graduate students design and present innovative clean energy solutions to real-world problems.
The first and second place teams are guaranteed $10,000 and $5,000 respectively!
In addition to the competition itself, participants will also gain exposure to industry professionals and explore post-graduate opportunities through company presentations, coffee chats, and exclusive free memberships to industry groups such as
SEIA and
EEI.
Please refer to the attached AES flyer for more information about team requirements, the challenge's structure, prizes, networking
opportunities, and the competition's prompt and rubric. There is also an
Early
Interest Form for anyone who will be either enrolled in or associated
with a graduate program in the Fall of 2024 to receive further details about the Energy Innovation Challenge!
PLaCE Short Course Registration Open
Registration is open for the PLaCE Summer 24 - Short Courses. https://purdue-place.gosignmeup.com/Public/Course/Browse.
June is the only month we will be offering Short Courses and Workshops this summer.
Classes are non-credit bearing and free to enrolled international students.
They may qualify to earn a certificate. We do ask, if students are not able to attend the entire session to not enroll, so another student may have the space. More details about classes may be found on the PLaCE website:

Summer 2024 Writers' Rooms Schedule
Writers' Rooms are dedicated times and places for graduate writers to work on their academic writing projects (e.g., scholarly articles,
dissertations, etc.). Writers should plan to spend most of the two-hour block in independent writing; however, On-Campus Writing Lab tutors will be available for very brief, limited consultations if concerns arise during the writing time. Writers should bring
whatever materials they need for successful work on their projects, including laptops, books and articles, style guides, research data, white board markers, pens, paper, etc.
If you are interested in joining, please sign up using the online
scheduler under the "Group Programs" drop-down menu. All sessions
will begin with goal setting and end with a discussion of what was accomplished.
