Postdoc Opportunity for PhD Candidates in Biomed and Life Sciences

Applications are now being accepted for the University of Michigan Medical School in-person Postdoc Preview recruiting event happening on May 7-8, 2026! The Spring event awards up to 20 applicants the opportunity to explore the extensive postdoctoral research and training opportunities available at U-M. During a fully-funded two-day visit, candidates will interview with prospective mentors, network with our current postdocs, and learn about life in Ann Arbor.

Applications for the CCST Science & Technology Policy Fellowship are now open, As CCST Fellows, PhD scientists, engineers, and social scientists spend one year in Sacramento, California, working as staff in the State Assembly, State Senate, a State Agency, or Offices of the Governor. Fellows get a front-row seat learning about the craft and process of policymaking in the State of California — a dynamic arena that often sets policy trends for the United States and the world.

Eligibility

Are you within ~2 years of finishing your PhD (or recently finished) and considering a career in academia? If so, this 4-day, sponsored Emerging Engineering Educators (EMEE) workshop, which is part of EngineeringUnleashed, is designed just for you! In this workshop, you’ll work with engineering faculty from diverse institutions (large research universities to primarily undergraduate institutions) to:

- Explore what it takes to launch a career as an academic.

- Build a network of like-minded peers focused on building the next generation of engineering leaders and educators.

- Gain tools and insights related to the entrepreneurial mindset to help you stand out as an academic job candidate.

- Year-long virtual engagement following the workshop.

The Office of the Vice Provost for Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Scholars' (OGSPS) annual Say It In 6 (SII6) competition is now open for submissions! SII6 challenges grad students/scholars to tell their research story with only one picture using a six-word caption. Students and scholars interested in competing should submit their materials through this survey by 11:59 pm Friday, February 27. Please see the SII6 awards and timeline below.

OWL Workshop for Doctoral Students

OWL Workshop Series: Maintaining Writing Productivity as Mid-Stage Doctoral Students

for third-fifth year doctoral students with a current writing project

The Purdue OWL is offering an in-person workshop for doctoral students in their 3rd-5th years. Academics need to produce a quantity of high caliber writing on a regular basis. The Maintaining Writing Productivity as Mid-Stage Doctoral Students workshop series combines lessons related to productivity with independent writing time that will further attendees’ productivity on specific projects they are currently writing. The workshop meets weekly for 4 weeks in February. Participants must attend all 4 weeks, as the material builds on itself from week to week. Topics of the workshop include Transitioning from Research to Writing, Maintaining Writing and Publishing Productivity, Clarity & Concision, and Giving & Receiving Feedback. Coffee and pastries will be provided.

Spring 2026:

Tuesdays in February (3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th) from 8:27 AM - 10:30 AM, in-person format

Anyone interested in attending this multi-week event should apply before January 25, 2026. Complete the application survey here. Attendance will be limited to 30 participants due to space constraints.
