Pan Lab Postdoctoral Openings, Pennsylvania
State University
We have immediate openings for 2-3 Postdoctoral Research
Associates to work in the lab of Prof. Dipanjan Pan at Pennsylvania State University on federally funded projects. These positions are primarily concerned with designing and synthesizing nanoparticles and DNA-based nanostructures for use in multiplexed imaging
and sensing of biological processes.
The ideal candidates will have published peer-reviewed papers in nanomaterials and extensive experience in the synthesis and characterization of novel materials, and in vitro and in vivo studies. In order to be considered
for the position, candidates must be self-motivated and capable of working in a fast-paced team environment. Priority will be given to candidates who demonstrate scientific curiosity, passion for research, and an understanding of the research literature. Candidates
must hold a Ph.D. in chemistry, materials science, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related field. Candidates who can start immediately will be given preference. To apply, DM me or send an email to dipanjan AT psu DOT edu with "PAN

PLaCE Short Course Registration Open
Registration is open for the second session of PLaCE Short Courses.

Session 2 classes begin Oct 17th and end on Dec 1st. Visiting Scholars may register after Oct. 12th if space is available.
Classes are non-credit bearing and free to enrolled international students.
You may qualify to earn a certificate. We do ask, if students are not able to attend the entire six-week session to not enroll, so another student may have the space. We will be offering courses again in the spring semester. Registration for spring courses
will open in January.

These in-person Career Development workshop series
do not require RSVPs. Please arrive early to find a seat. Each workshop can be attended as a standalone event; none of these workshops will be recorded.
Though these CCO events are developed for graduate students, everyone is welcome to attend.

Critical skills for career success include communication, teamwork, and persuasion. But what does that look like in practice and execution?
How can one lead effectively, how can one convince a team to get things done, especially if one doesn’t have the official title/authority? Attend this workshop to learn how to influence without authority. Demystify the techniques, expand your toolkit; avoid
manipulation!

Often when we spot a problem and suggest or work towards a solution, we watch in frustration as our attempts to make an improvement
fail. Most people are resistant to change; yet change is critical and necessary. Whether or not you’ve already experienced this, change management is going to be a useful skill to know. Attend this workshop to learn: Why do some changes succeed, and others
fail? Learn strategies to make YOUR changes successful.
Application & Information Session | 2023 Dean's Teaching Fellowship
Interested graduate students are now able to apply for the 2023 Dean's Teaching Fellowship. Applications will be due by Wednesday,
November 9th, 2022, and the applicants must include an endorsement form from their School/Division (details in attached .pdf).
We will be holding an information session on Friday, October 28th from 12:00-1:00pm with the 2022 Dean's Teaching Fellows. During this
session, students will hear the perspectives of the current Fellows and have the opportunity to ask them questions about the application process, their general responsibilities, and the commitment required for this fellowship. If you have questions ahead of
the event, please let me know!

to provide additional opportunities for students to teach during their senior graduate school years, which can also be excellent training for graduate students looking to go into faculty careers.
The 2023 Dean’s Teaching Fellows will be selected by the College of Engineering's review committee, and applicants will be notified
by December 15, 2022. We highly encourage students from all backgrounds to apply for this opportunity.
