Dear BME Faculty and Staff Colleagues,
David and I wanted to take a moment to send good wishes for the new year and coming semester, especially considering the many changes and transitions that have been underway. We are eager to reinforce to you
the importance of BME to Purdue’s overall research and teaching missions, as well as to our future growth in Indianapolis. At the same time, the vision for Purdue in Indianapolis is much broader and more encompassing, and it is for all these reasons together
that I have asked David (and David has agreed) to serve in such a significant senior vice provost role.
We know you may have questions about future BME leadership transitions. As we move forward with our plans for Purdue in Indianapolis, David will continue as acting head for BME in the short term, while other
administrative positions are filled in the College of Engineering. At the same time, David will be looking carefully to ensure that the department continues to advance with momentum and continuity, and together David and Mark will be preparing the next steps
of a transition plan for departmental leadership.
BME has played and will continue to play a critical role in our integration with the IUPUI campus, and in setting a bold vision for what we can and will do in Indianapolis. David will be representing all of
Purdue in his senior vice provost role, taking with him the great lessons he’s learned in setting and executing a vision based on what is possible and doable working closely with our partners. The future for Purdue and BME is bright, and we look forward to
many great things to come.
Yours with very best wishes for coming semester,
Patrick Wolfe
