Call for Nominations: OGSPS Excellence in Teaching Award

Due: January 13^th

The Office of the Vice Provost for Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Scholars will award three Graduate Teaching Assistants with the OGSPS Excellence in Teaching Award.

*Note that the 2026 OGSPS Excellence in Teaching Award program is being conducted independently from other Teaching Academy awards and the Center for Instructional Excellence. It is not a requirement, as in past years, that eligibility is limited to graduate students who have received the Teaching Academy Graduate Teaching Award

Award amount:

The Excellence in Teaching Award will receive a plaque, $1,000, and will be honored at the OGSPS Awards Reception on April 23, 2026.

Eligibility:

Applicants must be registered as full-time graduate students (enrolled for eight credits or more) during the Spring 2026 semester.

§ Applicants must have served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for at least two sessions during their Purdue graduate program.

§ Previous recipients of the OGSPS Excellence in Teaching Award are not eligible. (See attachment for a list of past recipients.)

Application:

Please address the following items, in the order listed below, in the application. While you are not limited to the items listed, any additional information is subject to the four (4) page limit. This 4-page limit does not include the required Nomination Cover Sheet.

Please limit the application to four (4) pages, 12 pt. Times Roman, 1.5-line spacing.

• Evidence/Examples of Excellence in Teaching (including, but not limited to)
• Statement of Teaching Philosophy
• Courses Taught and Number of Students (if known)
• Course Responsibilities
• Instructional Materials Developed (for example, laboratory exercises, online guides, etc.)
• Student Evaluations/Comments

• Professional Development and Engagement/Service Activities Focused on Teaching (including, but not limited to)
