Summer Science Program
in Genomics: please help us find one more TA
An opportunity for undergrads or graduate students to
be involved with a highly regarded STEM program for High School students. Students should not have other commitments during the Summer Science Program as it is definitely a full-time commitment.
The Summer Science Program in Genomics at Purdue
University
Teaching Assistant and Residential Mentors are
tutors and instructors, assisting participants in using equipment and software, and with problem sets, under the direction of the Academic Director. Equally important is their simultaneous role as residential advisors and personal mentors, supervising participants
and organizing recreational and social activities, under the direction of the Site Director. Room & board and travel are provided, plus a salary of about $1,000 per week for 6 1/2 weeks.
Working in teams of three, participants will use a programmable
chemostat to expose a marine microbe to an antibiotic, then analyze the mutations observed in the evolved genome.
Applicants should be rising
college seniors, graduating seniors, or graduate students with wet lab or genomics/bioinformatics knowledge and experience, who enjoy teaching.
