Three Minute Thesis Competition - Now Open for Submissions

What is 3MT®?

Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) is a research communication competition that helps graduate students and postdoctoral scholars develop academic, presentation, and research communication skills so that they can effectively explain their research to a non-specialist audience. During each competition, competitors will have three minutes to present a compelling discussion on their research topic, including its significance and relevance, to the public. This is a fast-paced competition where the top 10 finalists compete by summarizing their two to three-plus years of research in only three minutes with only one slide.

Competition Timeline

·         Friday, March 3 – Video Submissions Due

·         Friday, March 25 – Semifinals – YONG B83

·         Monday April 14 – Rehearsal – Fowler Hall

·         Tuesday April 15 – Live Competition – Fowler Hall

Welcome Message from Purdue OWL

As spring semester gets started, I’d like to take a moment to welcome you back to campus and share some exciting updates about the Purdue OWL in Indianapolis.

First, the OWL is in a new location beginning this semester: ET 012, below the first floor and on the right after passing the entry ramp. We are conveniently situated near an open workspace where we imagine lots of writing and collaboration between students will happen this semester.

We are also excited to share that the Purdue OWL is now available for scheduling in BoilerConnect. Here, students can make appointments with a writing consultant and receive session notes afterwards in a convenient online space that they are already familiar with. The OWL continues to accept drop-ins this semester, meaning that students should feel free to stop by ET 012 at any time during our normal hours. Our hours for spring 2025 are below.

Monday - Friday

9:00am - 5:30pm

Closed on University Holidays
