As most of you are aware, there is a traumatic video circulating through multiple sources online and allegations that a Purdue University Police Officer used excessive force against a Black Purdue student. While we were not there and we do not have all the details, what is visible is something that we personally hope none of our community would experience. Further details and responses from the Purdue Police and the University administration are forthcoming.
We want to let our community know of ways to be engaged and support one another. Tonight, the Purdue Black Student Union is hosting a town hall at Lilly Hall Room 1-105 and Zoom meeting ID: 737 0641 0679 Meeting password: 52xf3z, and is on Instagram Live @Purduebsu at 7pm. This space centers Black Boilermakers’ voices and concerns but all of our community is encouraged to attend, voice concerns, hear from, and support fellow Boilermakers.
We ask Weldon School members to be supportive of those who may be experiencing trauma due to this event and also want to remind community members of available resources for counseling services and supporting victims of violence, harassment, and discrimination.
