professional headshot at their convenience and at no cost. A self-service portrait booth is open in the Boilermaker Station Welcome Center in Stewart Center, Room 102. The booth is available without an appointment Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to
5 p.m.
The booth features:

Allows users to approve or retake photos and displays tips on posing

Share your STEM inspiration! Regeneron Crowdsourcing Competition
The biotechnology company, Regeneron, is hosting a
crowdsourcing
competition in partnership with nonprofit Base 11 that is asking
for the story of the person who inspired you to pursue a degree or career in STEM.
Whether it's a family member, teacher, mentor, or role model, we want to hear about the individuals who have made a lasting impact
on your life and inspired you to make a difference in the world through STEM. The overall goal of this initiative is to help empower our future STEM workforce by creating a platform for a new wave of inspirational and relatable role models, showcasing them
as the unseen heroes of our world.
Up to 10 winners will share a $9,500 prize and have the opportunity to visit Regeneron and learn about potential job opportunities.

Strategies for Effective Public Engagement
Do you have students who wish to improve their public engagement skills and make a positive
impact on society? Let them know about "Strategies
for Effective Public Engagement" (SEPE),
a new online video course developed by the Yale
Ciencia Academy (YCA) for Professional Development
in collaboration with CienciaPR,
the Science Communication Lab,
and iBiology.
SEPE
comprises 10 short videos that introduce essential concepts that provide practical tips for planning and executing effective public engagement projects. The course is centered on reflexivity and ethical engagement, taking the audiences and practitioner’s culture
and identity in mind. At the end of the course, students receive a certificate of completion and a digital badge to post on social media, showcasing their newfound knowledge and skills.
SEPE
is now available, and we would appreciate your help in sharing this email and the

PurSysT Research Colloquium #6 Spring 2023
Purdue Systems Thinkers (PurSysT) would like to invite you to our sixth Research Colloquium this Thursday, April 20th from 5:30
pm – 7:00 pm (EST). This meeting will be hybrid in nature with the details below and on the flyer (attached in-text). Our speaker will be Kevin Griffith, a senior technical researcher at Sandia National Labs.
He will be delivering on the topic: The role of Systems Analysis at Sandia National Labs. Also, Kevin's talk will provide an
insight into how his team at Sandia partners with and support U.S. government agencies and commercial organizations on technical programs that involve system and system-of-systems (SoS) reliability, readiness, sustainment and related technologies.

May 5 at 12pm Eastern Time on Zoom and engages scholars interested in pursuing postdoctoral training at Yale University. Our goals are to support potential postdocs in their career exploration and identifying next steps, engage with potential postdocs
from underrepresented and historically excluded groups, and increase awareness of the experience of and resources supporting Yale postdocs.
Participants will have the opportunity to:

Engage with current Yale postdocs and available resources in a virtual meet and greet

Hear from and ask questions of current Yale faculty
·
Participate in a mini-mentoring workshop
As part of the event, we will highlight current and future postdoctoral opportunities at Yale and how to follow up with the

Eligibility:
We recommend participation by: current PhD, MD or MD-Phd students who are nearing completion of their degree and recent doctoral
graduates (within 1-2 years of doctoral degree completion).
While there is no citizenship requirement to participate, please note that some postdoctoral positions, because of the
nature of their funding sources, are limited to those holding US citizenship.

Doctoral Fellowship Openings - Apply today!

Northwestern University, in collaboration with the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab (formerly the Rehabilitation Institute
of Chicago), announces several post-doctoral fellowship positions. All positions are two-year, full-time fellowships that provide an
opportunity for individuals who have completed a Ph.D. or other terminal degree to gain expertise and experience in health services research broadly, with the goal of preparing for a scholarly career. All
openings are funded by the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research; research activities must relate to NIDILRR’s
Long
Range Plan.
Post-Doctoral Fellows gain experience in a full range of research-related activities, developing publications
and grant applications. Positions begin preferably between Summer and Fall 2023. Applicants should specify which of four funding mechanisms, described below, are best aligned with their interests and goals.
Employment research-focused fellowships are funded by two mechanisms. The first funding mechanism, the Rehabilitation
Research and Training Center on Employment for People with Physical Disabilities,
aims to (1) Conduct a randomized control trial of a telehealth pain self-management intervention, (2) Assess employer-, client-, job-, and environment-related barriers and facilitators
of job retention, (3) Evaluate an implementation science approach to employment interventions in people with Parkinson’s disease, and (4) Evaluate a decision aid to job seekers on how and when to disclose the need for job accommodations.
The Post-Doctoral Fellow will assist in the execution and implementation of scientific research and development in collaboration with a research team based at the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.
The second employment-related fellowship opportunity is funded by an Advanced Rehabilitation Research Training
award to Northwestern University. The Post-Doctoral Fellow will develop one or more research projects, develop grant applications, publish manuscripts, enroll in coursework, and receive mentoring in preparation for a scholarly career.
In addition, there are opportunities for post-doctoral fellows interested in research involving
home-and community-based services (HCBS) and community living and participation. The HCBS opportunity stems from a Rehabilitation Research and Training Center on

and Community Based Services
awarded to the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. Center aims are to (1) Identify and test promising measures, (2) Identify promising HCBS practices and requisite service-delivery competencies, (3) Develop and pilot test an
intervention for HCBS using manualized training materials that support person-centered care delivery and coordination, and (4) Work closely with NIDILRR and other Administration for Community Living centers to ensure the RRTC’s activities are informing and
informed by other HCBS quality initiatives. A fellow will have opportunities to work with a team that develops person-centered outcome measures, defines best practices and competencies, and designs and conducts a training intervention.
The last funding opportunity stems from an Advanced Rehabilitation Research Training award focused on NIDILRR’s
community living and participation priority awarded to Northwestern University. The Post-Doctoral Fellow will develop one or more research projects, develop grant applications, publish manuscripts, enroll in coursework, and receive mentoring in preparation
for a scholarly career.
