Incyte is a global biopharmaceutical company focused on finding solutions for serious unmet medical needs through the discovery, development and commercialization of novel medicines. The company's portfolio includes Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (MPNs) and Graft-Versus-Host Disease (GVHD), General Hematology/Oncology, Dermatology and other Inflammation & Autoimmunity (IAI), and Partnered Programs.

The Incyte Medical Information and Medical Affairs team is actively recruiting postdoctoral fellows for a 2-year fellowship at the company’s headquarters located in Chadds Ford, PA. The Fellowship provides an exceptional opportunity for PharmDs and PhDs to strengthen their clinical knowledge through collaborative leadership experiences. Throughout the fellowship, fellows will be able to enhance written and oral communication skills and develop professional leadership and teamwork abilities through a wide variety of industry-valued experiences. Fellows can also expect to engage with cross-functional groups including but not limited to Clinical Development, Product Strategy, Pharmacovigilance, Regulatory Affairs, and Market Access. Additional experiences will be tailored toward the fellow’s interests.

Fellowship Eligibility

· Recent PhD or PharmD graduates (candidates could already be doing a first postdoc and looking for an opportunity in industry) or PhD students who will defend their dissertation and graduate prior to the start of the fellowship in July 2024

· Expertise in biological sciences, biomedical sciences, chemistry, and life sciences related disciplines

· U.S. citizenship is required

NIH OITE Becoming a Resilient Scientist Series - Begins September 14th

We hope this email finds you well. We are pleased to let you know that we will be offering the “Becoming a Resilient Scientist” Series this Fall. The first webinar of the ten week program will be held on September 14th from 3:00 - 4:30 pm ET, followed by the group discussion a week later. This Series will help trainees develop the confidence and resilience they need to navigate challenging situations in school, work, and life. The series will consist of five webinars, each linked to a drop-in small-group discussion the following week. The webinars will highlight strategies needed for academic success and for thriving in research and healthcare careers. We will discuss the cultivation of skills to help trainees realize resilience and identify and deal with obstacles that get in their way. The material discussed will be helpful to individuals starting out, transitioning to their next experience, or mentoring others. Trainees may participate in any of the webinars, however it is best to participate in the entire series. Concepts and themes will be developed throughout the series, and trainees will be able to integrate, engage with, and refine the information from the individual sessions. Data show that trainees who attended most of the sessions of the earlier "Becoming a Resilient Scientist Series" reported that they had become more resilient, were better able to handle stress and conflict in their lives, and would recommend the series highly to their colleagues.

PASSPoRT to WashU – Opportunity for Prospective Postdocs (Oct 12-13)

The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs at Washington University in St. Louis is excited to host Pathways to Advanced Scientific Skills through Postdoctoral Research Training (PASSPoRT), a 2-day virtual event for prospective postdocs on October 12 and 13, 2023. The event is open to advanced PhD students (post-qualifying exams), recent PhD graduates, and early-stage postdocs. There is no citizenship requirement to participate.

The first day of the event will focus on the postdoc experience at Washington University, and the second day will consist of informational conversations with recruiting faculty members (matched in advance and by appointment only). Here is the basic information for the event:

Mentoring Relationships: Free new online course for science trainees

We are excited to announce the launch of our newest online course, "Build Your Research Community." This course consists of five modules and is completely free of charge. It guides science trainees through the crucial steps of identifying mentors and building and maintaining strong mentoring relationships. For a sneak peek into what this new course has to offer, be sure to check out this trailer. The course is open for enrollment now and is suitable for senior undergraduates, post-baccalaureates, and early-career graduate students. We highly recommend it to any trainee seeking to find their primary research mentor and establish their research home.

Online course Biomedical Entrepreneurship (Deadline Sept. 11^th)

The College of Graduate Studies at the Medical University of South Carolina would appreciate your time in passing along this opportunity to colleagues or trainees in your network who might benefit from an online course in Entrepreneurship in the Biomedical Space.

The course is for researchers in the biomedical workforce who are interested in putting into action the knowledge arising from scientific discoveries. The course is offered online in a cohort model and covers intellectual property, copyrights and trademarks, developing a business, regulatory oversight, and finding financing. In addition, synchronous office hours are hosted online and the course culminates in a final pitch session. The course director is Dr. Kelly Shaver, Emeritus Professor of Entrepreneurial Studies at the College of Charleston and a Justin Longenecker Fellow of the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship. A Digital Badge is offered for those who successfully complete the course.

Introduction to Graduate Writing Workshop presented by OWL

for first- and second-year graduate students

The expectations for writing in graduate school are much higher than for writing as an undergraduate. As a graduate writer, you may undertake the writing of articles for publication, grants, conference presentations, a thesis or dissertation, etc. The Introduction to Graduate Writing Workshop offered by the Purdue OWL is meant to introduce graduate students in their first or second year to various aspects of scholarly writing so that they can become successful writers in their field of study.

The workshop is a four-part event, and participants are expected to attend all four sessions. The four parts of the workshop focus on Getting Started, Drafting, Revising/Editing, and Project Planning.

Fall 2023:

Day/Time: Tuesdays 9:30-11:00 am ET

Dates: September 12, 19, 26, & October 3

Format: Virtual (Zoom)

Anyone interested in attending this four-part event should apply between August 28, 2023 and September 5, 2023. Complete the application survey here.
