The Computational Biomedicine (CBM) Research Area is pleased to announce a new internal award program to support graduate students and postdoctoral researchers whose work advances computational approaches to biomedical discovery, translation, and healthcare innovation.

Funding Available: Four awards of up to $2,500 each will be made available to support professional development activities that enhance AI literacy, specialized computational training, or research dissemination.

Acceptable Use of Funds: Applicants may request support for conference presentations, workshops, short courses, AI/ML training opportunities, data science bootcamps, specialized technical training, or other activities that will strengthen their ability to conduct rigorous and impactful computational biomedicine research.

Application Details: Please see the attached PDF for a full description of the funding opportunity and application requirements.  To apply, applicants should submit a 1–2-page statement describing their current research, its alignment with computational biomedicine, the proposed use of funds, and the expected impact of the opportunity on their training and career development. Applicants should also explain how the experience may benefit the broader Computational Biomedicine community, such as through a brief presentation, resource-sharing activity, or written summary of lessons learned.  Additional required documentation is described in the attached PDF.  Please direct any questions to mpward@purdue.edu. 

Review Criteria: Applications will be reviewed based on the strength of the proposed opportunity, alignment with the mission of the Computational Biomedicine Research Area, potential impact on the applicant’s development, and broader value to the research area community.
