Dear BME Grad Students and Faculty,
All faculty supervising Research Credits (59800, 59900, 69800 or 69900, or TECH 64000) are required by the Registrar to communicate (preferably in writing) the minimum expectations for satisfactory completion of the research to each registered
student within the first two weeks of the term. This includes summer research credits.
To help facilitate this process for BME students and their mentors, The Graduate Committee has created an
BME_Graduate_Research_Credit_Expectations_Form (attached), which is designed to be 1) initiated by the student, 2) reviewed and completed by the faculty member, and 3) discussed between the student and their mentor.
***Once that communication has happened, the faculty member also needs to record completion of this communication through the
Research Acknowledgement checkbox in myPurdue by May 27, 2022.
Instructions from the registrar will be forwarded to faculty next on how to complete this
30-sec online process.
This process is designed to facilitate the important discussions that need to take place at the start of each semester to ensure productive and successful student research with clear and documented expectations agreed upon at the start
of each semester. This is important because a grade is associated with these credits (think of this like a course syllabus).
