Thank you to everyone in MJIS today for evacuating quickly when the fire alarms sounded—you did exactly what you should. When that alarm goes off, evacuate immediately and move past the sidewalks so emergency personnel have clear access to the building. Please also remember that elevators will not operate during an alarm.

This is also a good time to review tornado safety. When exterior tornado sirens activate, it means a tornado has been sighted in the area. You may also receive alerts on your phone or Purdue computer. In this situation, do not go outside. Move immediately to the basement.

Because MJIS has a lot of glass, it’s especially important to get to a safe interior space. If you cannot reach the basement, go to a restroom or an interior stairwell—areas without windows—and stay there until you receive an all-clear on your device.

Boiler Up!
