(Sent to BME Faculty, Staff, and Graduate Students)

On behalf of the Advanced Manufacturing of Pharmaceuticals Alliance (AMP) led by Eric Munson, Alina Alexeenko, and Garth Simpson, you are invited to participate in the inaugural Purdue Advanced Manufacturing of Pharmaceuticals Expo, on Tuesday, November 23, from 12.00 to 5.00 pm, in the new Convergence Center, in Discovery Park (101 Foundry Dr, West Lafayette)

Need for event

This will be an in-person event, with the goal to better understand the depth and breadth of the advanced pharma manufacturing work at Purdue. This awareness will help us organize and prepare for large funding opportunities, such as a National Center of Excellence in Advanced and Continuous Pharmaceutical Manufacturing. Your input will be critical to determine which opportunities to pursue, form core teams to strategize ahead of funding announcements, and gain critical mass to obtain support from industry, Indiana, and other relevant sponsors.

Program

The format will include an update from Lewis and Burke, Three Minute Thesis (3MT) presentations on your most relevant research directions, followed by guided faculty discussions to identify cluster of interests, priorities, and action items. Anyone can present: graduate students, post docs, research staff, faculty, but only graduate students will be eligible to win awards, and their Faculty advisor must be present in order to qualify for awards.

12:00 pm – 1:00 pm – Lunch for everyone

12:30 pm – 1:00 pm – Lewis-Burke Associates update on pharmaceutical funding opportunities, followed by Q&A

1:00 pm – 1:15 pm – Opening remarks and AMP goals

1:15 pm – 2:00 pm – 3MT first round

2:00 pm – 2:15 pm – Break

3:15 pm – 4:00 pm – 3MT second round

4:15 pm – 4:45 pm – Continued Faculty discussion of opportunities, funding, facilities

3MT presentations and prizes

Awards ($500, $300, $200) will be given to graduate students for the best 3MT presentations; faculty advisors must be present for the 3MT presentations in order for their group members to qualify for awards. Presentations should be accompanied by one slide with a high level overview of the work done, name of collaborators, sponsors, results, plans, and impact. A slide template is attached.
