Dear BME Community:

Your vote will determine the winner for this national contest!

Our super-resolution resolved dendrites and spines (from Huang and Chubykin labs) are now as the finalist at BRAIN initiative image/video contest:

https://braininitiative.nih.gov/2024-brain-initiative-show-us-your-brains-photo-video-contest

Our video is the one on the bottom right, titled:

Exploring the 3D Nanoarchitecture of Neuronal Membranes at Dendritic Spine by Labeling Channelrhodopsin-2

Data collected by graduate students: Hao-Cheng Gao (Biomedical Engineering) and Xi Cheng (Biological Science)

Among other impressive entries, our is the only one providing nanoscale ultrastructure of the spines and dendrites, the defining feature of neural connection and its function.

Cheers!

Fang
