Learn about BD’s Technology Leadership Development Program (we’re hiring!), one of the premier career-accelerating opportunities in the med tech industry, along with insider interview & resume tips that will give you a leg up for your transition to industry.

The TLDP vision is to develop future leaders of BD’s R&D organization.

- The program consists of three successively more challenging assignments (~18 months each) that span multiple businesses and / or locations within BD. These assignments are designed to strengthen technical depth and leadership skills.

- A personalized and dynamic career path is sculpted for each TLDP associate based on their personal skills and interests, with the guidance of senior R&D leaders.

Program Qualifications:

- Outstanding Ph.D. graduates with significant leadership experience and technical depth in engineering, science, or technology fields, such as:

o mechanical engineering, data science, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, materials science, chemistry, biochemistry, cell biology, and computer science

- Significant demonstrated leadership experiences in areas including technical, academic, entrepreneurial, organizational, and/or personal.

- Early-stage career (less than 3 years of industry or postdoc experience outside the pursuit of a degree) at time of application

- Willingness and ability to relocate to different geographic locations

- To qualify for this position, you must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction to duration.

- For many roles at BD, employment is contingent upon the Company’s receipt of sufficient proof that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. In some locations, weekly testing for COVID-19 may be available instead of vaccination. Engineering Virtual Graduate Showcase Poster Competition

**Engineering Graduate Students and Postdocs**

Cash prizes! Present a poster at the Purdue Engineering Virtual Graduate Showcase, fully online (Gathertown platform) on Monday, September 26^th 12:30 – 1:45 p.m.

Submission Deadline: August 31, 2022

What: The Graduate Showcase is our biggest graduate student recruitment event of the year, and an opportunity for current graduate students and postdocs to represent your programs, share your research, and compete for cash prizes. We are looking for participants from all engineering disciplines to present a research poster and talk to prospective graduate students during the online poster session.

How it works: Submit your research poster following the guidelines by August 31^st. As a Purdue graduate student or postdoc you do not need to register separately for the Grad Showcase; simply complete the form and upload your poster through the website. If selected, you will be notified by September 16^th and will need to confirm you availability to present live during the online event on September 26^th. You will have the opportunity to familiarize yourself with the Gathertown platform prior to your presentation. During the live session, talk with Purdue colleagues and prospective graduate students from around the world who are visiting this online event to learn more about Purdue.

PLaCE Short Course Registration is Open!

The registration is now open for the PLaCE Short Course for international students. Visiting Scholars may register after Aug. 24 on a space available basis.

Session 1 dates are Aug. 29 – Oct. 6

Session 2 dates are Oct. 17 – Dec. 1

Classes meet twice a week for 75 minutes. Many classes, such as the Writing Practicums meet once a week and then the students have one on one conferences with the instructor.

We would like to draw your attention to the events that the AMAP plans to hold this semester. Attached, please find the flyer for the Fall 2022 AMAP events. Advanced Methods at Purdue is a method-oriented cross-college initiative that aims to promote collaborative opportunities towards the development of a multi-college, shared graduate training platform, including talks, workshops, a graduate certification program in advanced statistics and methodologies, and an interdisciplinary space for methodological consulting in the behavioral, health, and social sciences. The AMAP welcomes anyone (not limited to those in behavioral, health, and social sciences) at Purdue to join our events/activities.

Also, we have attached the AMAP graduate certificate program flyer. The AMAP certificate empowers students to respond to novel challenges in the behavioral, health, and social sciences with the methodological rigor and multidisciplinary view needed to lead groundbreaking scientific endeavors. The interdisciplinary nature of this certificate facilitates collaborations among diverse sets of instructors and students. Earning your official AMAP Interdisciplinary Methods certificate, listed on your academic transcript and CV/resume, is a great way to signal your skills in and commitment to excellence in methodology. Data analytic skills and interdisciplinary thinking are highly sought after skills for employers across all sectors.
