Registration OPEN for the 2024 Hitchhiker's Guide to the Biomolecular Galaxy

open for the 2024 Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Biomolecular Galaxy! Please register using this
link.
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Biomolecular Galaxy Symposium
brings together undergraduate students, graduate students, post-doctorates, and faculty throughout the Midwest who are all striving to share and gain more insight into various biophysical approaches. The Hitchhiker’s symposium will be held on
May 23-24, 2024, in Armstrong at Purdue University.
Registration is completely free with breakfast, lunch, coffee, and snacks provided both days. The symposium will include a keynote
address given by Dr. Jin Zhang from the University of California San Diego. Dr. Zhang’s research contributions were recognized by numerous awards. Her lab developed a series of molecular tools and fluorescence imaging technologies to understand the
spatiotemporal regulation of cell signaling.

We will be hosting pre-symposium events on
Wednesday, May 22nd 2024. Our pre-symposium events are focused on advancing careers with professional development and implementing diversity and inclusion in our field, along with social and networking opportunities with other researchers
at Purdue and the Midwest!
Each day of the symposium will consist of seminar style lectures where graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, undergraduates, faculty,
and visitors can share their work. If you would like to present an oral presentation,
please submit an abstract when registering by May 10, 2024.
The first day will also include a two-hour workshop session with four technical workshops:
When registering for the symposium, participants will rank the order of workshops they are interested in (1 being the most likely).
Participants will be placed in each workshop on a first-come, first- serve basis upon registering until the workshop reaches maximum capacity.
On the second day of the symposium, we will be hosting a two-hour poster session. If you would like to participate in this poster session,
please submit an abstract by May 10, 2024, when registering for the symposium! Awards will be given to the Top 3 posters and oral presentations, with a People’s Choice award at the end of the second day.

FAA National Air Grant Fellowship Opportunity

I want to share with the ASCENT community information about FAA's Samya Rose Stumo National Air Grant Fellowship program.
About the Program: Each Fellow will spend a year with a Congressional office that has jurisdiction over the FAA. A fellow may serve
as an expert liaison and researcher for a Congressional committee and may participate in FAA program activities to further develop their knowledge and skills. The program is designed to offer graduate students a hands-on experience at navigating public policy
issues related to their field of expertise. FAA seeks participants in fields related to aerospace. A flyer is attached with more information. Note that FAA hired three National Air Grant Fellows from the 2023 cohort.
FELLOWSHIP AWARD INFORMATION
The Samya Rose Stumo National Air Grant Fellowship program anticipates supporting multiple fellowships each calendar year.
• The application period for the 2025 cohort is December 1, 2024 through January 31, 2025.
• Length: 12-month, non-renewable fellowship assignment
• Start date: Late June/July of 2025

My name is Greg Ricketts, and I am a graduate assistant at the Center for Academic Vision and Enrichment (C.A.V.E.).
Every semester, we use academic mentors to assist our student-athletes in the C.A.V.E. These mentors assist and engage with student-athletes
in understanding assignments, proofreading, test preparation, organization, and time management. We are looking for graduate students to help this upcoming summer and fall 2024. More information on the application process and the C.A.V.E. is attached below.
This position is compensated but does not provide graduate funding.
