When using the conference rooms, please ensure the projector is turned off, the lights are off and the blinds are down when you leave. Remember to wipe down the tables as well.

 

Please assist BME staff by closing blinds on all externally facing rooms (labs, offices, etc.) due to the extreme heat. Please note (and follow) the suggestions below, and help us keep cool!

ENERGY CONSERVATION ACTION DAYS
MONDAY, June 23 – WEDNESDAY, June 25

Due to the upcoming extreme temperatures and humidity forecasted, Administrative Operations is declaring a few Energy Conservation Action Days.

ACTIONS TO TAKE
  • If possible, consider rescheduling research activities for cooler parts of the day or different days of the week.
  • Close fume hood sashes completely when not in use to reduce the amount of conditioned air that’s exhausted.
  • If you are able to, increase your thermostat by a few degrees to reduce air conditioning demand.
  • Close windows, blinds and doors to prevent heat from entering.
  • Turn off lights when rooms are unoccupied to reduce electricity use and eliminate the heat given off by the lights.
  • Turn off and unplug any unused equipment/devices to reduce electricity use.
  • Eliminate or reduce indoor heat sources, including autoclaves, lasers and ovens, especially during the hottest hours of the day.

  • Reduce energy consumption
  • Ensure our campus utilities are running smoothly
  • Keep indoor spaces comfortable
