Zuckerman Institute Postdoctoral Fellows in Mind Brain Behavior
The Zuckerman Institute Postdoctoral Fellows program at Columbia University provides
an opportunity for talented, early-career scientists to pursue pioneering research into
understanding how the brain works —
how it evolves, performs, endures and recovers. Fellows will be welcomed into the institute's vibrant intellectual community with broad-ranging collaboration opportunities. The Zuckerman Institute welcomes Fellows from a diversity of disciplines and from groups
who have traditionally been underrepresented in science, technology, engineering, and math fields (STEM) to apply. The Zuckerman Institute encourages the Fellows to carry out collaborative research under the mentorship of one or more faculty mentors and will
promote their mentorship in an inclusive learning environment.
Applications are open now through May 1, 2023 with an expected start by Jan 1, 2024.
In person interviews will be held on June 14-15, 2023.
As integral members of the Zuckerman Institute community, Fellows will have full access
to the institute’s cutting-edge
equipment, facilities, space and services:
including a magnetic resonance imaging facility, a cellular imaging team with advanced microscopy instrumentation, customized molecular and genetic tools, single-cell analysis capabilities, opportunities to partner with the country’s strongest concentrations
of computational neuroscientists, and more.
Fellows will also enjoy the institute’s extensive portfolio of
scientific programs,
including symposia, seminars, public-outreach opportunities and events with award-winning artists-in-residence. Also available to Fellows are resources for career and professional development and community building. Among them are opportunities to build a
network of advisors and connect with PIs and postdocs in other disciplines, special-interest activities (like thematic journal clubs), grant-writing consultation and assistance, trainee advisory resources to navigate both academic and non-academic job markets,
and much more. Beyond these institute resources, Fellows will become part of the wider Columbia University community. The fellowship offers a competitive salary and access to the university’s postdoctoral housing.
Strong preference will be given to early-career applicants who received their Ph.D. less
than one year prior to their start date.

Postdoctoral Fellowship
A team of faculty at Stanford University, led by Professor Scott
Delp,
is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship in biomechanical engineering and human performance science. Candidates are expected to have a PhD in a related discipline and experience with motion capture technology and biomechanical analysis. Individuals
with backgrounds in biomechanics, neuroscience, biomedical informatics, robotics, and computer science are all welcome to apply. The position will be in the Human
Performance Lab at Stanford,
which is affiliated with the Neuromuscular
Biomechanics Lab and
the Wu
Tsai Human Performance Alliance.
We are searching for outstanding individuals to join our team and develop
new methods to measure, simulate, and analyze human movement. Our approach will leverage novel data sources, such as real-world wearable sensors and video, experimental analysis, biomechanical modeling, and state-of-the-art models of neural control. Funding
is available to support fellows for two or more years. Fellows will have the opportunity to build an interdisciplinary scientific network, participate in mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, and present their work at international scientific meetings.
Candidates must have:

Strong record of publication and excellent communication skills

Research Engineer
The Wu
Tsai Human Performance Alliance at
Stanford University has established a new position in our Human
Performance Laboratory,
which is directed by Professor Scott
Delp.
The research engineer will work with a talented team of faculty, staff, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students to advance our understanding of human movement through state-of-the-art experiments and biomechanical simulation.
The Research Engineer will conduct world-class research in the Human Performance
Lab on projects related to the Human Performance Alliance research priorities, such as revealing the mechanisms of peak performance, preventing sports-related injuries, accelerating rehabilitation from injuries, and building engineering tools and data sets
that advance the field.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Bioengineering, Mechanical Engineering,
Computer Science, Kinesiology or related field, including research experience in experimental analysis of human movement and a strong record of scientific publications. Experience with motion capture, wearable sensors, metabolic measurements, strength assessment,
data acquisition, EMG recordings, programming in Matlab and/or Python, and excellent communication skills and analytical skills are also required for the position.
CU Anschutz 2nd Annual Summer Seminar Series: Apply by April 17th
We are delighted to announce our 2nd Annual Summer Seminar Series hosted by the Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics (BMG)
Department at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.
The BMG Diversity, Equity & Anti-Racism committee is seeking individuals of racial and ethnic underrepresented backgrounds who are
within approximately two years of completing their PhDs and are passionate about pursuing postdoctoral research in academia to share their thesis work with our community and meet potential postdoc mentors.
Selected candidates will present their research to the department in a 30 minute seminar, engage in one-on-one meetings with faculty
members, connect with current postdocs in the department, dine with department members, and explore both the campus and Denver. Travel and lodging will be fully covered.

March 27-April 1. This forum brings together graduate students, postdocs, graduate alumni, thought leaders and experts across different fields through a lineup of engaging talks, conversations, workshops, resource fair and networking opportunities.
The virtual events are open to GCC members, and graduate students, postdocs, faculty, and staff at your universities and institutions. We hope you will share it with your community and encourage participation. We will cover topics addressing innovation and

2 weeks left to submit for the Boilers Work Internship Program! Please share this information with graduate students and faculty in your area!
The Boilers Work internship program is open and accepting submissions for the summer of 2023. This internship program provides ten
graduate students per year with a stipend to pursue an unpaid summer internship. This year, the stipend award has increased to $7,500! This program is intended to help students garner real-world work experience, refine soft skills, and establish career connections
before graduation.
The deadline to submit is April 3rd by 11:59 p.m.
Awards will be announced on April 14th.

Applied Statistics in Healthcare Mondays 9:30-12:20pm

Course Description:
This course surveys statistical methods within the context of healthcare research applications. Emphasis is placed on gaining an intuition
for methodological purpose, basic application, and interpretation. Methods covered include descriptive statistics, probability distributions, hypothesis testing, chi-square test, parametric and non-parametric means testing, ANOVA, linear regression, logistic
regression, survival analysis, bootstrapping, mixed models, principal components analysis, clustering, and power analysis. Additional topics covered if time permits. Familiarity with basic probability and statistical methods at the undergraduate level is assumed.
Lectures and lab will occur in a single period using SPSS software. Assignments follow from methods covered in lecture and lab.
